I always am at work. (I was not allowed to return to work as an RN after my Doctor said I was too ill in 2007). I am always trying to find my patients, get my assignment, do my meds and treatments but cannot find anyone. I feel I am dying and I wake up crying or often yelling. I don't know how to stop this.

Hi, Wanda.

Dreams are so personal and often they are a figurative display of one's inner battles, triumphs, etc. Two ideas come to mind:

1) I do not know much about your past, however, I would suggest that you miss your former occupation quite a bit. Do you feel like a part of you has died by not being able to help others as an RN?

2) Or, perhaps there is something else you wish to do on a grand scale, but for some reason (unknown to me) you have been unable to move forward in that direction.

Do you feel your path in life has become difficult to follow...like you are not moving at this point? These are some guesses of mine. :C)

That is a very stressful type of dream to have. Maybe you need to relax a bit more because you maybe having some worries around you at the moment and they are coming out in your dreams, in another form. I bet since all this you feel like you have lost a lot of self confidence. One minute you were on top of everythign and the next youre not. It seems like it is frustration coming out in your dreams

Wanda, Maybe this will help but then again maybe not! I was always having dreams about school...not being able to find my next class or my locker ,It was like everywhere I turned it was all new...I mean I was lost all the time...I had these dreams years after I was out of school....I got a book about dreams and my dreams meant that I was very unorganized in my life. So I took a week off from my job....got my house in order(cleaned everything...got rid of clutter...and did things I have been meaning to do for sometime like...have the oil changed on the car..painted a few rooms that I had been wanting to do...I went to visit a few friends) Everything that I had wanted to do and get done! As soon as I got my house and my life in order...the dreams stopped. But when ever I start having these dreams again....I go through and reorginize my life and the dreams stop. Maybe you just have too much on your plate right now, I hope this helps....it works for me everytime I get behind in my everyday life. Blessings.

Thanks to all, and yes I have been dealing with multiple issues. I have been taking care of my Mom and not able to move forward as my condo won't sell. I am not well and family are too far away to help. I am sure this is going to be resolved, I just need to be patient.
I too have had bad dreams about wandering around lost in a strange building!

Beacuse that's all your body and mind knows.
I know this sounds strange...but please let me explain, it happens to me also.

When I was a truck driver...I became accustom to the different sleeping schedules, and how everything worked day by day.

I had my sleeping patterns down to sleeping every 6 hours and then driving for 6 hours. My husband and I were a team operation. So he would drive so many hours and then I would take over.

Once we came off the truck...and even for a few years after...I found myseld still in the sleeping pattern of every 6 hours. Because this is what I became adjusted to while driving truck, that even once I was no longer on the truck I would still sleep the same way.

I would even find myself sitting up in bed...fully asleep and act as though I was driving a truck. I would wake up saying things like..."Are we there yet?" or "What city are we in?" I even got so strange that my husband found me standing next to the bed like sleep walking and acting like I was unloading freight from the trailer.

This took me several years to finally get this out of my system and work back to my normal sleeping patterns and not "Acting out" during my sleep. I won't even have dreams of seeing our truck catch fire of crashing into another vehicle...I would jump out of bed screaming.

The first thing you need to do is....try not to think about your job before you go to bed. Avoid thinking about anything that has to do with that job.
Focus on something else while falling asleep. This is what I had to do in order for irregular sleeping patterns and nightmares to stop.

You can actually program your mind to think and act anything...you know the old saying..."If you put your mind to it" Well this also applies to our sleep. If you think it before bed...you will dream it.

I have always worked odd shifts, but this is new. I am on disability but hoping a job will come about soon so I can work again. Aside from no heavy lifting, I am able to do light duty or office work.
I think I really miss working.
