I would like to say that I think the glowing gravestone is just the reflection from the flash off highly polished granite. I have seen this before numerous times in photos. Just the angle of the camera flash has made that reflect. I bet its even red granite as I got a quick picture of that.
Now the other thing I am not sure of.................................
We have to use commonsense of course and eliminate any possible causes. I am not saying it is or isnt anything paranormal at this stage.
Go through the checklist...
Could it be a bush that is planted amongst the gravestones?
Could it be another unusual headstone of a figure or something that was infront of that grave but behind the other one?
The only way you will know for sure is to go back in the day time, find that gravestone by the other ones around. Take this photo with you and satisfy yourself and others that it isnt due to any other physical cause. You will recognise it by memory and by the large tree that looks like some sort of conifer, to the right.
I believe I have another photo taken by the Kent gravestone - I will look for it - taken another night.
I also do not believe there was a bush in front of it but of course I will have to go during the day and take another photo to establish that.
the few statues that are in this cemetery are white, so it would not appear black in the photo, esp if the reflection on the tombstone behind it was a reflection - it would illuminate it even more I believe.
Of course it could be a reflection - I just did not think it likely since it was so far back and I was aiming at the center of the photo - but I guess anything is possible.
I will let you know when I have time to go during the day or when I find the other Kent photo.
I am not seeing the light as being a reflection. The light appears to be in front of the stone, not coming from any other direction, and it is behind the stone in front of it. The flash I believe would not have caused this to be so intense in one spot, and not the entire stone.
If it is a bush, it is a weird shape. LOL It would be a good idea to go back, if you can, and see if there is a bush. Going back however, will not explain the light.
Yesterday I went back to the cemetery and tried to find the Kent grave so I could find the one behind it. I did find it and as Trace suggested, there is a bush beside and against it.
As you can see - the bush actually is against and a bit over the tombstone and is indeed a very unusual shape, which would cause a very unusual shadow appearance at night.
However, in debunking that part of it and comparing the two I can still not explain a few things. If you lookin at the photo above, the center of the light from the grave is below what is caught on the camera - on the stone below what we can see. The stone was at least 50 feet back from me, I doubt highly this would be a camera flash reflection that far away, and when I took the shot I was pointing the camera off center - not at that stone. when I crop and zoom on the photo - you can see that more clearly, plus there is a bright orange light to the left of the photo as well which has no explanation.
and even with the bush being there, I still see faces that are not part of the bush shadow. I have marked on the crop and lightened version below of what I still see
Starting on the left side, to the right of the orange light, I see a face and shoulders in front of the stone on the ground there - I have marked with a yellow arrow. Going over more to the right and in front of the glowing stone, in front of the bush and looking over the stone in the front I clearly see a face. At the top of the bush I still see the face with the hands reaching out. Much larger than these two mentioned and partially over the bush is a large woman's face with bushy hair. below her to the right I see another face and then below that is an orb.
I realize that in lightening it up, the pixelation gets intense, and at this point it is subjective what someone sees. I am sure there are those who will say they see nothing and I am matrixing.
it is certainly good to go back and look during the day, because there were also some other things I thought I saw that can be explained in the day, like a flag or a potted plant. LOL. but in any case, debunking part of the photo does not exclude what I do believe is paranormal as well. However, what often happens is once you debunk part of what you saw, there is a tendency to throw out everything else.
whatever you decide in looking at my photo - that is fine with me, because everyone is entitled to their opinion. I believe there are parts that are still intriguing and there is more there than just a bush. In any case, happy hauntings.....
That is great you went back and took pictures. Well what looked to be a person turns out to be a bush but your right, it does not explain the light. Too bright to be a reflection from your camera. As I said before, the light appears to be in front of the stone, not coming from any other direction, and it is behind the stone in front of it. Great job.
Excellent work Jane! Spoken like a true investigator!
Sometimes we have to be our own critics....Good job! But it may be the bush next to the gravestone..but you stil have that unexplained glowing coming from the gravestone...that's paranormal to me...because you are showing the real gravstone during normal daylight hours...and there is no light source to show anything electrical.
in answer to Trace's question - was it red granite?? as you can see from the photo it is brown and a matte or dull finish - not glossy or shiny. I have no idea what red granite would look like but this is a sandy purplish brown. it is dark in color.
and if it is granite, which I really do not know, but if it is, I seem to recall TAPS saying on one of their investigations in the 4th season that there was a hotel in New Hampshire which was built on granite. They said they believed being built on a mountain of granite was probably assisting the paranomal activity in the hotel because granite tends to channel paranormal activity.
You can see from the 2nd photo taken during the day how FAR away I am from the tombstone and how far away I was when I took the photo.
and folks - My daughter now has reminded me when I mentioned my going back to check on that particular tombstone that the REASON why I took the photo of this particular stone was that we saw the glow of the tombstone BEFORE I took the shot. It certainly helps to have someone with you who remembers details when you do not I would say! LOL. we remembered this particular one because it was behind the Kent grave, and we are Smallville fans so we remembered the name Kent which was close to the road.
