After his/her film career that was two films, one with Ronald Reagan called Bedtime for Bonzo and Bonzo goes to College. These films were in 1951 and 1952. He/She then went to a circus (I believe). As he/she was passing through Erie, Pa. he/she became sick and died and is buried in a pet cemetery south of Erie. I talked to the "caretaker" the day I took the photos and he wasn't sure when the chimp died other than the early 60's. I have looked on the net and found a few references that the chimps actual (or first?) name is Peggy. I don't know where they got this info. Most movie sites list the name as Bonzo playing Bonzo. This is supposed to be the Bonzo that is in the films. I would have to guess he/she was renamed by the owner or they used Bonzo because of the movies.
