Head's Up - I am going to Gettysburg PA for a mini vacation April 5th - 7th [maybe 8th]

Hi dear fellow ghost hunters -
I am FINALLY going to Gettysburg. It appalls me I have never gone before this. I even went to college out near there and had a friend on my dorm floor from Gettysburg but never ventured there except once with her to have dinner - no sight seeing.

My daughters have off from school next week, and since Gettysburg is a mere 3 1/2 hours from my home, we are finally going. We are staying at a Bed and Breakfast Inn that was built in 1872 and is located just one block from Lincoln Square, the center of Gettysburg, PA and one block from Confederate Ave., the Culps Hill area of the Battlefield.

The national park stays open til 10 pm so I will be able to go out on the battlefields and to the cemetery and memorials after dark. There are MANY ghost tours - not sure which is the best. We plan to also drive out to the Cashtown Inn and have lunch or dinner there. Much much to see - wish I had more than a few days but for now this is better than nothing. We will do some fun stuff too like attend a concert, go to the teddy bear factory and check out the two covered bridges in the area, plus go to the minature train museum, the Civil War Museum and Eisenhauer's farm and house. I know we can't do everything but whatever I do and whereever I go - you know I will be sharing the good stuff with you all.

Permalink Reply by Jane on April 9, 2009 at 5:52pm: well - I am back. it was very tiring and an emotional visit - I will say. I have 606 photos to go through, and that does not include Shivonne's photos, which I usually help her look at and get ready for posting.

In general, the photos I have already examined do not have an amazing amount of orbs and activity like I expected. I honestly expected the orb activity to be off the charts and much more impressive than my cemetery shots. Unfortunately that is not the case at all.

My initial feeling or thought on this is that the spirits and ghosts are so much a part of their surroundings now [after 146 years], that even though this is one of the most haunted places in the USA, we may not pick up the orb and apparition activity in photos that we are apt to in a cemetery or historic building. that is my only explanation. I myself and my daughter see alot of spirits in that invisible veil type dimension [Kat is the one that explained to me how to find spirits in a photo - looking for the "invisible"]. I realize not everyone can see that in a photo and my daughter and I both said to each other that if we post those photos where we feel and think spirits are in, people might say we are matrixing.

So - we are going to stick with those we think are clear and anyone can see. When I have the best of what we took I will share it. Of course once posted I realize we open ourselves up to many opinions, explanations and thoughts - which is OK.

I have also gotten alot of wonderful stories from the guides we had there of ghosts and spirits that haunt the homes and battlefields. I will share them as time goes by. Some of the guide stories were personal encounters they themselves had.

Last but certainly not least, my daughter Shivonne has posted in her blog a wonderful poem she wrote in the car on our ride home. It is a wonderful poem that truly captures the feeling and grief of Gettysburg. I ask you all to read it. I can not read it without crying to be honest. It is a beautiful expression of the feel and soul of Gettysburg. With her poem she posted 3 of the photos I took - which I very willingly shared with her to illustrate her beautiful work. I hope she will not mind that I remind you that she is a special needs child and her insight and creative use of language really touched and impressed me.
