Angels Ghosts Message Board

IF.......you had the resources to make a ghost type TV show FOR ghost hunting comrades...
what would your concept of that show be?..How would you lay it out...whats your goal?
what would make ghost hunters like yourselves watch it.. how would you make it a show "to die for"? ...but keep it real. Just ...curious lol

The show to die for, wow. How about a team of women. No psychics, no feelings of the paranormal, straight out good evidence. I do like the way the evidence is presented in GH and GHI, after the fact. I like seeing some new technology used. No orbs as evidence. You know when Ghost Lab started I thought they were going to be the one to watch but not liking some of their evidence and it has been debunked already. I do like their use of data loggers, and they have a good setup. Paranormal Sate, I don't like, too much talk about demons, I would like to see demons not mentioned. Ghost Adventures, I liked when they first started but they are getting a little silly and loud. Provoking is ok but it can be done in a different way. The new show Extreme Paranormal is just that, I have no desire to watch the show. So what I would like to see is a team of women that know what they are doing, know what good evidence is and know they are serious when it comes to finding the truth, yet still have fun doing it.

Great topic Polly!!

I would have a show where a team of open-minded critical thinkers tried to do what could be done to collect and evaluate evidence under scientific controls. It would feature both field work and lab experiments, with an emphasis on eliminating normal explanations, and with instructive demonstrations and recreations to show how these things might work. Picture something like 25% Ghost hunters, 75% Myth Busters.

I would also want to have guest experts in various scientific and parapsychological disciplines to put things in context and keep the show honest. Dr. Kiran O'Keefe is at the top of that list, assuming I could not get him to be a regular member of the team.

Perhaps surprisingly, I would not avoid having psychics, demonologists or similar people on the show. I would do my best to treat them and their beliefs with respect, but also to evaluate their claims critically and present a realistic view of them.

Mostly, what I would try to hammer home every episode is that logic and critical thinking do play a vitally important place in any investigation, paranormal or otherwise. I would attempt to show good critical thinking practices every episode, perhaps even featuring a specific logical principle every week.

I think I would call the show something like "Spirit Science" and do my best to live up to that name. I have a strong suspicion that most folks would find the show to be a crashing bore, and it would get canceled midway through the first season. :)

Yes..I agree with Tkay...a team of women...it's always guys who get into the act, even though there are a couple of ladies on Taps, they really don't get to do as much as the guys.
But team of women would be great.

I got my hand up in the air!!! Me me me..LOL

Out of alls these shows on tv, I never see one person taking notes...do you notice that? There is not one single person with a note pad taking notes...isn't that what ghost hunting is all about. Like for instance when they hear a noise or see something, even though it's on video or evp or not...they should all be taking notes. Writing down the times and what areas..so they have something to fall back on. I always carry a note pad where ever I go.

If there is going to be a show...no drama! I hate drama...and recently Zack, Nick and Aaron have become real drama kings! If you are going to be professional...then act it. They do that to get everyone all hyped up.

Drama kings for sure!! LOL

Great topic! I would want a mixed team..both men & women. With different levels of experience/knowledge. A team that is open-minded on all levels. No fancy equipment, just the essentials.. I would also suggest 'feed-back' after every episode from the viewers themselves...

Orbs? I'm going to say that in some cases orbs should be used as evidence of possible paranormal activity. Only if they are deemed to be 'true' orbs.. ;)

Ok being that I’m not an investigator & may have put my foot in my mouth here it goes. Simple…

Honesty & Respect for the deceased, crew & viewers. Not to make it seem spookier than it actually is.

More experienced people on the job. Those who rarely need camera time but will indeed know what to expect, to do & when to leave.

Never expecting a ghostly reunion. Or to name the ghost without having the proof that it is the actual one who is disturbing the area.

Broadcast: Showing respect. Asking for permission. Asking for protection. Affirming that your ultimate goal is to prove their existence & possibly to resolve any issues. Bring names or items that would be familiar to them or from that time period. (Set it up the just b4 the investigation (in every room) – Dolls, Cigarettes, Clothing, Pictures, Newspaper article, Food etc…).

Understanding the mindset of the spirit. Try to manipulate them into believing that there’s something or someone who needs them on the other side. (Gain their trust or keep/hold their attention).

I like the idea of Psychic/Mediums pre-determining the presence in the area without ever having been there. Once the investigation is over the outcome would be as predicted. (Wow effect). An actual Spirit Rescue when the investigation is over. Educate with the intent of assisting vs. just exposing the earthbound souls.

More cameras. Emf detectors & recorders – In every room.
Instead of holding the recorder in your hand – to Velcro them to your arms, wrists or hang it around your neck.

Less talk with the exception of asking or responding to questions of the spirit, ghost or entity. Not speaking over them…

No overreacting to the responses.

Immediate evidence (voice box) without assumptions of what’s being said – just pure & raw evidence.

Constant photos in every angle.

No Ouija boards, voodoo dolls or cultural items (circles etc...) unless it’s absolutely necessary to bring out the spirit.

ok?
