It reminded me of the movie "Poltergeist".
A young couple has to deal with an entity in a poltergeist form. There is some catholic overtones of course.
If your looking for a movie to debunk as far as paranormal investigations go.....this isn't for you. I thought it had a good scare factor for such a low budget. Acting and plot was good enough to get the point across. Lets just say it's a Hollywood movie without the Hollywood budget. I thought this movie was so much better than "Blair Witch"......by far!!
I saw this movie last Sunday 10 pm in a theater of about 20 people. My first thought going in was keep an open mind and see where the film takes me.This film masters the unseen threat. As someone more familiar than most with the paranormal even I was on edge by the end of this movie.Blair witch does come to mind in terms of how the movie is filmed but this movie is more tightly wound. It does at times come off a little unreal in regard to how these people react to what is happening but knowing that it's ''just a movie'' makes the reactions forgivable. Is it the scariest movie ever??I can see some people coming away with that....based on the format and content.Movie buffs and tough guys will hate on this film for the same reasons (another Blair Witch comparison)Overall as the movie progressed it became terrifying.I say terrifying because the looming sense of a dreaded event soon to occur was very real and qualifies itself for the word. For people on this site it is a must see.
Not sure I understand you made the statement, "For people on this site it is a must see", may I ask why it would be something for people of this site in particular?
It's all the rage, right now. I struggle with scary movies anyhow - just not a fan of fear, etc. But, I think I am going to see this one even though it is hyped and likely not even close to real. I want to understand what makes the dang thing so scary to people. Is it the cinematography? Effects? What???
You now how movies are...they will only show the good parts in the trailer and leave the rest out. The eye catching stuff.
Sometimes what they show in the trailer is not even in the movie at all...it's the stuff they cut out.
I haven't had the chance to see the movie yet, as I have to drive all the way to Bakersfield to see it. And with this outbreak of swine flu and regular flu...I'm not too hip on getting physically sick at the moment. If I go...I'm wearing one of my surgical masks.
Or I can do the smart thing and just wait for it to come out on dvd and buy it. I'm still waiting for the movie "The Skeptic" to come out on dvd and it doesn't look like it's going to be any time soon.
C'mon Tkay you seem somehow offended by my movie review. For the most part people on this site take a deeper interest in things paranormal so a movie that really goes deep into that subject would naturally be an attraction and be of special interest. That's obvious so I don't know what is confusing you about that statement.
I am not offended at all. I do not take these types of movies as reality, it is of course a Hollywood movie. It seems funny you think I was offend, why would you have thought that, I just thought is was odd that you stated it as you did.
