Lens Flare...

I recently uploaded a page about lens flare. It is important to understand that lens flare is not ghostly presence, but an explainable effect caused by light shining directly into the camera lens:

Some people are not aware that lens flare can occur indoors through artificial lighting. I would like to direct your attention to the last photo on the above page, as it has an excellent example of what would look to be orbs caused by ceiling fan lights hanging down and shining into the photographer's camera. :C)

Polly, that would be great to see those comparison pics when you have them put together, iff possible. Great idea...would love to see some of the LCD screen and on/off camera light running across the image as described. :C)

Yes, I see hundreds of pics like this that people take at the WVPen..they catch each others or other peoples flash lights in the dark.. or a glare of their flash from a glass window,, MY FAVE is the ones where they are getting the LCD screen and on/off light on someones digital camera and it strings all the way to the top or side of the pic.. they just will NOT accept it as anything other than a ghost or energy form- and they have a breathless field day with it LOL.. I'm going to make a set of comparison pics ,,print them out and POST them WITH explanations on the walls in the lobby like WALLPAPER!! ( yes,,I am growling GRRR) lol I'm NOT a pro or even near it with examining para-pics.. but -,,using common sense in an exciting moment,,when you think you have a light anomaly - it isnt hard to settle down a few minutes and think about it FIRST! lol. Always TRY to re-create the pic again.. jmo

I see these "strings of light" in alot of photos posted. Although I've personally never taken one, I've always wondered how that happens. Good stuff.....thanks LC & Kat!

Yes, those light strings Kathy Owen figured out a couple years ago and took some photos of it with various amounts of motion. That night mode setting on digital cameras is only for tripod use. Here are some photo examples:

Glad you posted this LC..I try to tell many people about this at the prison hunts,,but no one wants to listen. Also try telling them about the " strings" of lights from the slow shutter and low light /night setting combo.. I hope people will catch on soon!
